Sport and Education

As we learned in class on September 25th and 30th, there are pros and cons to sports and education.  First, sports are a reason to involve students in activities.  In the article, they are talking about the sports at Michigan, specifically football.  Football is one of the most popular sports in America, and Michigan's largest sport.  Along with being the largest sport means
that they have a lot of players to look over, coach, and take care of.  Second, sports in education enhance fitness and lifetime participation.  Athletes always want to improve their fitness and take care of themselves, but sometimes when playing, the athletes encounter an injury.  In the article, the main issue is that the quarterback's head injury was not handled in the correct way.  Sometimes their injuries are looked past to ensure that they can still play, but in Shane Morris' case they waited too long.  These things need to be taken seriously or it will reflect on the university.  Third, sport in education develops and rewards valued skills.  Just like in the article, the quarterback was rewarded because of his skills to stay in the game and play.  Unfortunately, his tactic was back fired because of his injury.
